We read books for many reasons; entertainment, insight into other people's thoughts, empathy towards global problems etc. But above all books make great friends, giving us hours of unconditional company.

For me fiction novels have always been a great source of knowledge, joy and inspiration. Some of these books have created a special place in my heart with its intriguing story, believable dialogs and smooth prose. The following twelve books are special to me. I must have read them a number of times but each time it gives me the same reading satisfaction. So go ahead and try it yourself if you haven't already done so.
